According to the report of the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO), the oversea Resident’s visits to Japan were 1,085,100 visits in February. However, it was about 58.3% less than last year. Although February was the Chinese new year, lots of China travel tours were canceled due to the spread of the COVID-19 problem. It was about 87.9% less compared to the same month of last year.
In East Asia, including Korea, China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong, the total number of tourists has declined because of the serious Coronavirus problem. Airline operators also reduced the number of flights to avoid country and country infection. However, thanks to the intensive travel promotion campaign, the number of inbound tourists was increasing than last year in Indonesia, Vietnam and the Philippine. But most of the tour had been canceled at the end of February.
In Australia, the government had issued the travel advanced alerts to avoid the spread of disease from Asia. In the united state, the inbound tourist number also decreased to 20.8%. The number of visitors to Japan fell significantly this month.
The Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO) said they have to pay much attention to avoid the spread of disease and attract more people to come to Japan in the future.
